Schedule

Session 1 (June 5-9): Photo Expedition

Come and learn photography! Venture through locations like Pier 39, Golden Gate Bridge, Half Moon Bay, Santa Cruz Beach, and Treasure Island and see things through the lens of a camera. Anticipate, envision, and click away! Learn about aperture, shutter speed, ISO (film sensitivity), photo sharing, and photo mounting. This summer, we will be using phone to take pictures. Phone lens can be purchased for an additional $25.

Session 2 (June 12-16): Museum Hop

Explore Bay Area museums each day of the week! We will be going to California Academy of Sciences, Children’s Discovery Museum, Tech Museum, Egyptian Museum, and the Exploratorium. Additional fees to cover admission, transportation, and parking fees. Please see the registration form for details.

Session 3 (June 19-23): Cycling – Tour de Alto

Get fit and go green! As a part of a peloton–group of cyclists–we will ride together through Bayland, downtown Palo Alto, Shoreline Park, and Mitchell Park Rainbow Bridge through the paved paths for cyclists and pedestrians. You get a great workout from cycling and a chance to enjoy the view: see wildlife animals, and feel the breeze and the sun’s warmth.

Session 4 (June 26-June 30): How’s it made?

Discover how chocolate is processed from cocoa beans and how ice cream comes together with a few simple ingredients. Join us as we visit our local factories. Additional fees to cover admission, transportation, and parking fees. Please see the registration form for details.

Session 5 and 6 (July 3-14) CLOSED

Session 7 (July 17-21): Science

Toss those old school science projects and play with new ideas. From nature scavenger hunts and making the perfect sand castle to bottle rockets and learning about glucose levels, we’ve got an interesting week planned for you.

Session 8 (July 24-28): Food Adventure

Join us on a hunt for the best places to eat in the Bay Area! We will be trying restaurants with 4-5 star reviews on Yelp and comparing the reviews to our own experience. By the end of the week, your child will know which restaurants are up to the hype and why.

Session 9 (July 31-August 4): Little Chef

Put on an apron and learn how to cook through experimentation. Let’s explore different ingredients and their measurements to see how it all changes the taste of the dish. Learn how to change one dish to a new one with just a few ingredients.

Session 10 (August 7-11): Origami

Ever wonder how a piece of paper can turn into a roaring dinosaur? In the world of origami, roses never wilt and snowflakes never melt—they stay true to shape. Even Star Wars’ Origami Yoda says, “Size matters not. Look at me. Judge me by my size do you?” “Try not. Do. Or do not. There is no try.” Come and join the Force.
